Terms of service
The rules for using EditXP, in plain English. By creating an account you agree to them.
Who we are
EditXP is run from the United Kingdom by its owner, who is the person responsible for the service and for online safety. You can reach us any time through the contact form.
Who can use EditXP
You must be 18 or over. One account per person. Keep your password safe and tell us if you think someone else has used your account.
Your edits
You own your edits. By submitting one, you give EditXP a free, non-exclusive licence to host it, show it on the site (including to raters before results), rank it and feature it in EditXP’s own promotion, for as long as it is on EditXP. You can delete your edits and your account at any time, except where we must keep something by law (see the privacy notice).
Challenge footage
Footage, music and assets in each challenge belong to their owners, who license them to EditXP for that challenge. You may download them only to make your entry, and publish your edit only on EditXP and in your own portfolio as stated in the challenge rules. Don’t share the raw files or use them for anything else.
Community rules
- R1. Be constructiveCritique the edit, not the editor. No harassment, bullying, hate or pile-ons.
- R2. Rate honestlyScore every edit against the guide. Rating rings, swapping high scores and alt accounts are banned.
- R3. Use only the supplied footagePlus your own titles, graphics and sound. Follow the challenge’s AI rules. Never re-upload someone else’s edit.
- R4. Keep it safe for everyoneNo sexual content, graphic violence, threats, or content that promotes suicide or self-harm.
- R5. No spam, scams or impersonationNo fake hire offers, phishing links, selling accounts or pretending to be someone else.
- C1. Respect copyrightOnly upload work you have the right to share. Repeated copyright infringement leads to a ban.
- L1. Nothing illegalIllegal content is removed and may be reported to the police or the National Crime Agency.
AI tools. AI tools are fine for clean-up: noise reduction, transcription, upscaling and masking. AI-generated shots, voices or automatic editing are not allowed.
How we enforce the rules
We review reports and can remove content, give a strike, disqualify an entry, suspend an account or ban it. Strikes last 90 days. Two active strikes may lead to a one-week suspension; three may lead to a ban. Serious illegal content leads to an immediate ban and, where the law requires, a report to the police or the National Crime Agency. Whenever we act, we tell you what we did, which rule it was under and how to appeal, unless the law stops us from telling you.
Appeals and complaints
You can appeal any decision about your content or account from your account standing page or the link in our email, even if your account is suspended. We review the decision again and reply with our reasons. If you’re still unhappy, you can make a complaint.
Copyright
If you think something on EditXP uses your work without permission, send us a copyright notice. We remove content that infringes, and accounts that infringe repeatedly are banned. If your edit was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can appeal.
XP, levels and credits
XP, levels, awards and credits are for fun and recognition. They have no cash value and can’t be sold or transferred. We can correct them if they were earned by mistake or by breaking the rules.
Changes and availability
We may change EditXP or these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you before it takes effect. We try to keep the site running but can’t promise it will always be available.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law. Otherwise, EditXP is provided as it is, and we’re not responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable or that are caused by other users.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring claims in your local courts.
